Urban Outreach at First ChurchTending the Soul of the CityDirect service to the homeless is a cornerstone of spiritual life at First Church. We've been providing housing and shelter to Seattle's homeless for over thirty years; for many years, we've aligned our efforts with the city's to end homelessness. By engaging ministries of direct service and advocacy we believe we are transformed as the body of Christ. There is always a space for you as a volunteer - so jump on in! Shared Breakfast

History of Urban Outreach at First ChurchFrom its first worship service in December of 1853, First Church has been a guiding influence, striving to tend the soul of the city and answer the Spirit's call for justice. First Church Advocacy AwardThis award is given each year to honor and recognize an individual in the Puget Sound region who has dedicated themselves to peace with justice through efforts to change social norms, laws, and policy. More information on this award is coming soon.
Local PartnersCatholic Community Services - One of the largest providers of homeless shelter in King County; may partner with First Church on a new, 24-hour enhanced shelter program. Church of Mary Magdalene/Mary's Place - A downtown ministry to homeless women that was housed at First Church's Fifth & Marion location for over 14 years.
