Building Update: Seventeen Weeks to Completion

Building Exterior

The entire exterior is now clad in sheathing, with 90% of it also covered in vapor barrier. Brickwork has begun on the sanctuary building's west (alley) side and is now 50% complete. By October 2 brick will be complete on the sanctuary building. Installation of the titanium siding on the sanctuary portion will begin mid-September and will continue through the end of October. Window frames will be installed at the south and north elevations starting September 10.

First Floor

All HVAC and electrical rough-ins are finished. Sheetrock has been applied to nearly all the walls and, pending permit inspection of the ceilings, will soon be applied there as well. Taping and mudding of the sheetrock will occur later this month.

Sanctuary Level

Metal framing of the interior walls is nearly complete, and rough-in of mechanical, electrical and plumbing is nearly complete as well. Next step will be installation of drywall.

Education Level

Metal framing of interior walls is underway and overhead rough-ins are complete.

Garage

The garage structure is complete and concrete framing and pouring is underway on interior stairways and exterior planter boxes.

Urban Outreach Space

Our redesign of this space is now complete and plans have been given to the contractor for re-pricing. Completion by our move-in date should not be a problem.

Planning Activities

Our Move-In Committee has been hard at work determining when move-in festivities will take place and what they'll look like. Plans currently call for our first Sunday in the new space to be Sunday, January 31, 2010.

Our Building Advisory Board will meet on September 22 to prioritize use of leftover contingency funds. Options include completion of one of the planned stained glass windows, purchase of an electronic organ for worship, purchase of furnishings for the fellowship hall, and several other important items.
