Work progresses on both the interior and exterior portions of our new building, with the exterior nearly complete. Here's a full update:

Building Exterior

Only a few small portions of brickwork remain to be applied, followed by installation of cast concrete capstones at the top of each brick wall. The titanium siding on the south portion of the building is complete and metal work will continue on the east and north facades. Nearly all of the window frames and glass panels are now in place, with the exception of the large window in the sanctuary, which will not be installed until after the concrete floor in the sanctuary is poured.

Sanctuary Building

Interior Drywall and painting are finished on the ground floor, with final polishing of the concrete floor now underway. Workers are beginning to install the t-bars for the suspended ceiling and fittings are being installed for the heating and cooling systems. On the second level, drywall is now being applied to the walls of the sanctuary and work is complete on the sanctuary ceiling. After the drywall has been installed, forms will be placed for the sanctuary floor and concrete will be poured for the finished floor. Drywall is complete in other portions of the sanctuary level and painting is nearly complete. Drywall is also going in on the third level, with mudding and taping to follow. November, December and January will see final interior finishes underway and mechanical and electrical systems installed and complete in all levels of the building.

Garage and Urban Outreach Building

Exterior walls of the garage are nearly complete as well, with patching and smoothing of the concrete surfaces underway and the final brick elements just about done. Metal planters are in place for the green walls, and the screening/structure for vines will soon be installed as well. Abbott Construction hopes to have the garage completed and available for use by December 1. Construction in the Urban Outreach Center has begun, with wall framing, plumbing and electrical rough-in proceeding on schedule

Make certain you've marked your calendar for our Building Consecration and Celebration on January 31, 2010. Bishop Grant Hagiya will be our leader for this historic celebration.
