The titanium paneling on the front of the building is now complete. (photo taken November 2 by Sandy Brown).

The church's contractor, J.R. Abbott, has kept our new building project steaming along like a train on the tracks! The exterior of the building is now 99% complete, with a few very small touches yet to be completed. The building interior is progressing nicely, with our January 21, 2010 completion deadline looking pretty good.
• Building Exterior - Titanium siding on the west and south elevations is now complete. The titanium sections on the west and north are underway. Brickwork is complete, windows are in, and plastering is beginning in the soffit of the porch along Denny Way and should be complete by press time. The final touches will be flashing around the tops of the titanium and the capstones of the brick walls.
• First Floor Sanctuary Building - The elevator is complete, along with all walls and ceilings. Paint has been applied and the last portions of suspended ceiling are being hung. Tile is complete in the bathrooms and is now underway in the main kitchen. Casework (i.e. cabinets) are underway in the offices. Abbott has moved its offices to the church offices and removed its headquarters from the north side of the building.
• Second Floor Sanctuary Building - Concrete has now been poured in the sanctuary floor and is setting up. Soon new scaffolding will be place around the walls to allow taping, mudding/plastering, and painting. Painting is complete in the nursery and sacristy, tile is underway in the main bathrooms, and the narthex is ready for paint.
• Third Floor Sanctuary Building - Mudding and taping is nearly complete and paint has been applied to many of the rooms. Tile work will begin in the bathrooms shortly. In mid-November we'll see the grids for the acoustical ceiling tiles installed.
• Site Work and HVAC - A survey of the sidewalks has been made by the City of Seattle and most of the walks along Denny Way will need to be replaced. To allow for this, the sidewalks will be closed much of November so they can be removed and replaced. Planter boxes are being completed along the east and west sides of the property. The Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) is being finished now, with boilers and air condensers undergoing their final installation and fitting.
• Garage - The last of the stairwells is nearly done. Planter boxes for the green screens will be installed this week. Finish work on the exposed concrete is underway and soon new signage will be installed that identifies the garage for the general public. The garage is set to open on or near December 15 - just 6 weeks away.
• Urban Outreach Center - Members of nearly all trades are filling the building with activity. Framing, insulation, plumbing rough-in, electrical, HVAC, and glass workers are all working on the inside of the Urban Outreach space, heading to a January 21 completion.
It's time to start planning for the 2-week process of moving furniture and fixtures into the building. This will likely begin around January 15 and conclude on January 30, the day before our first worship service. Can you help? Please let the church office know! Thanks!
