180 Denny Way
• Urban Outreach – This is humming along, too, with nearly all walls framed and doorways hung. Sprinklers and HVAC are complete and the wall utilities are underway. Soon we’ll see suspended ceiling grids and drywall hung. • Church building interior – Carpet has been laid on the ground floor and doors have been hung. Final casework is being completed. After a few ceiling tiles are installed and baseboard is put in, most of the public spaces on this floor will be complete. Appliances are being installed in the kitchen. In the sanctuary nearly all “high” work is complete and two of four walls remain to be sanded and painted. Most light fixtures are in, and the beginnings of the audio system are being installed. On the third floor we simply need ceiling tiles and carpets to consider this area “done.” • Exterior – Ok, there is some remaining work. The drive between the church and garage is soon to be paved and sidewalks will soon go in along 2nd Avenue and Denny Way. December 18 will be a special day, as that’s the day of installation of our new exterior cross. • Planning – Our Art Committee is putting the finishing touches on the stained glass design. Many thanks to all who trudged to the new building last week to hear a description by Mark Eric Gulsrud, our stained glass artist. The Organ Committee is also hard at work, planning for musical instruments in the new space. Make sure you’ve reserved the date January 31. We’ll process from the Seattle Children’s Theater at 10:00 and have our first worship service in the new space. Then at 2:00 that day we’ll lay our building’s cornerstone and at 3:00 we’ll consecrate the new facility, with Bishop Grant Hagiya presiding. There’ll be an expanded choir and much beautiful music. Don’t miss it! |
